Property owners
Owners of a rental property, especially if they are managing the property remotely, may be faced with the distasteful prospect of rehabilitating their house or apartment after severe tenant neglect or deliberate vandalism. SKD has real world experience in working with such properties and taking the burden and worry of this process away from the owner. SKD will assess, design and revitalise the property, turning it from "land value only" into a highly desirable residence for future rental or sale.
Family members
There are times when family members, particular the elderly, find it increasingly difficult to cope with the demands of home maintenance. Left unchecked, homes can rapidly deteriorate and become a worrisome burden for the resident. Such neglect can go unnoticed until the "deceased estate" process commences, but it need not be this way.
SKD has worked with numerous clients whose elderly family members have not been able to cope with daily living, but who were not at the stage of requiring nursing home care. Houses often reflect the needs of younger families and may not yet address the needs of elderly, and often single, occupants. SKD works to assess the physical access needs of the client (grab rails, ramps etc), encourages the sympathetic use of existing furnishings and fittings, and the rapid but stylish transformation of the "family home" into a comfortable, practical and attractive space. This improves the quality of life of the elderly client and also removes the burden of worry from an often overwhelmed family.
