Kitsch

I was surfing realestate.com.au this morning and came across this image of someone's fabulously kitsch bedroom and just had to share it with you. I hope it gives you a smile too. It may be an accident, but this room works really well. Generally this sort of decor is overdone with clutter everywhere, but this room is pared down to just the basics, and that is all it needs.

If the walls were painted cream the room would look utterly depressing, but that bright blue saves it by adding an unexpected burst of colour that contrasts brilliantly with the gold carpet and over-the-top brass bed. I appreciate this scheme isn't likely to become 'the next thing' in interior design but if you like your decor on the kitsch and unusual side, be proud and leave it like it when selling your home.
